Meet Dr. Gavin

Training

Dr. Gavin received her BA from Stanford University.  She received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Denver.  She completed her clinical internship at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.

Experience

Dr. Gavin has over 32 years of experience working with individuals and families both in hospital and clinic settings.  She began her career at National Jewish Center in Denver, and has been with Nemours Children’s Hospital since 1998. 

Dr. Gavin has extensive experience in psychological assessment and therapy.  She has worked with children, adolescents and adults.  

Although Dr. Gavin has experience in assessment and therapy with a broad array of disorders, she has deep experience in autism. Dr. Gavin assesses children as young as 12 months who may have signs of an autism spectrum disorder.  She has worked closely with community partners to provide autism screenings in local communities.  She enjoys working with families who are seeking help for children of any age with developmental, learning, and emotional challenges.

Therapeutic Approach

Dr. Gavin has been trained in a variety of therapeutic approaches, including cognitive behavioral, psychodynamic, family systems, and EMDR.

Dr. Gavin has dedicated her career to helping individual and families adjust to challenges.  She understands how disability, whether mental, physical, or developmental, impacts the entire family.  She works closely with families and community stakeholders to help access resources the the community. She works with families to understand the impact of disability throughout the lifespan, with the goal of supporting everyone in their quest to reach their highest potential.
